Membership:
Club membership is open to people having all carving abilities (hobbyist / beginner to advanced) whether you are interested in birds, wildlife, chip, in the round, or relief carving. Club membership is open to carvers at all skill levels. Members share their knowledge, tips and tricks-of-the-trade. A library of material is available. The annual fee is $25.00 together with a $1.00 weekly contribution.

Local Competitions and Shows:

The Grand Valley Woodcarvers Club welcomes individuals interested in woodcarving to visit the club on scheduled meeting nights. The meetings are held on Thursday evenings from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Mannheim Community Centre in the village of Mannheim, just west of Kitchener.
Membership:
Grand Valley Woodcarvers provides numerous benefits for its members, especially the fellowship experienced as carvers meet each Thursday. Here beginners and experienced carvers sit elbow to elbow learning and sharing skills. Carvers have access to a growing library of illustrated books, demonstration videos, study bills, patterns and general reference materials. We meet at the club on Monday afternoons and Tuesday and Thursday evenings, Friday afternoons and all day Saturday.
When you become a club member of the Halton Carvers you are given a door key which permits access 24/7. There are several other artist studios in the immediate vicinity. Painting, pottery, glass blowing, sculpting and jewellery making are among those situated around us. We have a bright, clean room in which you may carve to your heart's content mostly in wood but in any style you choose. Members will be happy to instruct you in relief carving, wood burning, walking stick carving, decoy and bird carving, caricatures and even totem poles if you so desire. We welcome adult members to a pleasant, social atmosphere where we whittle and chat and chat and whittle the hours away.

Activities and Projects:
The Club meets at the Seniors Centre but is not a formally associated with the Centre. The club has a varied membership who likes to carve or burn just about everything from animals, birds, characters, relief, furniture and totem poles. We have both girls and guys who enjoy burning as finishes for birds or scenic pictures.
Past Club Projects
Several years ago the Club carved a nature pole with a full size osprey on top that swings with the wind. The pole has been installed in Dragon Fly Park at the entrance to Orangeville. Following the pole install the Club became advisors to the Town of Orangeville on the Towns tree stump carvings, which now has created some notoriety for the Town.

Social gatherings for club members include a June and a Christmas potluck social.The Niagara Woodcarvers Association produces one of the best Woodcarving Shows held in the area. Membership:
The Wye Marsh Association of Woodcarvers provides the opportunity for all levels of carvers to carve and learn from one another. The association welcomes anyone who wants to come out and learn to carve. The group has all the equipment needed to facilitate the work. Membership fee is $53/year (includes membership to the Wye Marsh Wildlife Centre); one time charge of $10 for Association badge.
